Surviving Ike

These would be my sweet boys getting ready to go to sleep in the downstairs coat closet the night hurricane Ike arrived. Andrew slept thru everything. Alex woke up for the worst of it and came out to sleep with daddy & me in the family room. With 80+ mph winds, there wasn't much sleep to be had that night... Even without power, the boys were entertained by Grommit the dog, brought by a VERY pregnant Amy & Lenny who came from the coast to avoid Ike. Who knew that we'd get more damage than they would? Sidenote: check the Cassady family blog to see picts of baby Samantha!
After Ike blew by, we have a roof, fence, and drywall in 3 rooms to repair. This is pretty normal in our neighborhood and pretty minimal considering those who are STILL without power and had their houses destroyed. Thank God we are on the FAR side of town! Gotta love hurricane season in Houston...

Who has time to blog?

So...I've always made fun of bloggers. After all, who has time to sit at their computer and update their lives for everyone to read? And WHO wants to read these blogs? Don't people have enough going on in their lives? Now, after a year or so of reading friends' blogs, I've been sucked into the world of blogging. I figure, if you can't ignore 'em, join 'em! Rather than e-mail pictures of the boys to a thousand friends and family members (only to receive comments that the pictures were too big, too small, unable to view, etc), I can post them here and everyone can check at their own speed. Who knows...maybe I'll have something enlightening to say at some point and time. ;)
